In a major push towards industrial development, the Bihar government has announced plans to develop Integrated Industrial Townships in 12 districts across the state. These modern townships will include not only industrial units but also residential, educational, healthcare, and recreational facilities.
According to officials, the aim is to transform Bihar from a primarily agricultural state into a major industrial hub, offering better employment opportunities and improved living standards.
Districts Selected for Development
The Integrated Industrial Townships will be established in the following districts: Rohtas, West Champaran, Saran, Purnia, Begusarai, Vaishali, Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Jehanabad, Darbhanga, and Samastipur. These townships will be equipped with Housing for industrial workers, 24/7 electricity and clean water, schools and colleges, hospitals and health centers, shopping areas and entertainment zones and parks, playgrounds, and 40% green space
New Job Opportunities for Youth
This initiative is expected to create thousands of jobs, particularly benefiting the youth of Bihar. The townships will attract industries from various sectors, boosting local economies and reducing migration for employment.
Industrial Hubs through Land Acquisition
In areas where there are currently no industries, the government will acquire land to set up new industrial hubs. The Department of Industries has already started work in this direction. One such example is the Integrated Manufacturing Unit in Dobhi, Gaya, being developed under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor. This will serve as a model for future townships.
Pharmaceutical Park in Saran
In a special initiative, a Pharmaceutical Park will be established in Amanour, Saran, over an area of 100 acres. This park will include medicine manufacturing units and research centers, along with a Common Facility Centre to support pharma-related industries.
Vision for Bihar’s Industrial Future
The Bihar government aims to position the state among India’s leading industrial hubs. With modern infrastructure, integrated townships, and sector-specific industrial parks, the state is setting on a new path toward sustainable growth and development.
