External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will embark on a three-day visit to the United States from June 30 to July 3, at the invitation of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Sunday.
During his visit, Dr. Jaishankar will participate in the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the Quad grouping comprising India, the United States, Japan, and Australia to discuss new proposals aimed at advancing a shared vision of a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
The Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, scheduled for July 1, will build on the discussions held during the previous meeting in Washington on January 21, 2025. The ministers will exchange views on regional and global developments, with a particular focus on the Indo-Pacific, and review the progress made on various Quad initiatives ahead of the Quad Leaders’ Summit, which India is set to host later this year.
The discussions are expected to include collaborative initiatives in maritime security, infrastructure, supply chains, cybersecurity, and disaster relief, reinforcing the strategic alignment of the four democracies.
On June 30, Dr. Jaishankar will also inaugurate an exhibition titled “The Human Cost of Terrorism” at the United Nations headquarters in New York. According to the MEA, the exhibition will highlight the devastating impact of terrorism across the globe and the efforts by the international community to combat it.
The event is seen as part of India’s global campaign against cross-border terrorism, especially in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, a recent counter-terrorism operation that drew global attention. The exhibition is expected to bolster India’s diplomatic efforts in galvanizing a global consensus on comprehensive counter-terrorism strategies.
