Union Minister Savitri Thakur has stated that India has adopted a women-led development approach, ensuring that women play a pivotal role in shaping the country’s development trajectory. India participated in the 63rd session of the Commission for Social Development, held from February 10 to 14 in New York, USA, led by Thakur, the Minister of State for Women and Child Development.
On February 11, 2025, Thakur delivered India’s statement at the ministerial forum on the theme ‘Strengthening Solidarity and Social Cohesion.’ She emphasized India’s commitment to the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ (Development for All), highlighting the country’s focus on inclusivity. India endorsed the resolution on the main theme and is advancing the idea of saturation in social protection, ensuring essential services reach the most disadvantaged groups while addressing multidimensional poverty.
India has made significant strides in financial inclusion, particularly for women, through initiatives like the JAM Trinity (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, Mobile). The country has embraced ‘Women-Led Development,’ ensuring women play a crucial role in driving national progress.
Thakur also highlighted large-scale programs aimed at bridging the gender digital divide and promoting financial literacy, particularly in rural areas, empowering millions of women entrepreneurs. Additionally, India’s initiatives in early childhood care, nutrition, and education benefit over 100 million children, mothers, and adolescent girls.
