Ministry of Cooperation and Swiggy Instamart Join Hands to Boost Cooperative Products’ Online Presence

Bharat Organics and Cooperative Dairy Products to Reach New-Age Consumers via Swiggy’s E-commerce and Q-commerce Platforms

In a major step to empower India’s cooperative sector, the Ministry of Cooperation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Swiggy Instamart on Friday, April 25, paving the way for cooperative dairy and organic products to reach millions of online consumers across the country.

The MoU was signed between Shri Amitesh Jha, CEO of Swiggy Instamart, and Shri D. K. Verma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, in the presence of Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation. This partnership will enable cooperative societies to leverage new-age technology to expand their market access and customer base.

Under the agreement, products from Bharat Organics and other cooperative dairy brands will be made available on Swiggy’s e-commerce and q-commerce platforms. A dedicated “Cooperative” category will be created to feature a diverse range of products including organics, dairy, millets, and handicrafts. Swiggy will also collaborate with the Ministry to support cooperative brands in marketing, promotion, consumer technology adoption, and capacity building.

Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Dr. Bhutani emphasized that this collaboration is part of a broader effort under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah, who have spearheaded more than 60 initiatives to strengthen the cooperative sector.

The partnership gains further significance as 2025 has been declared the International Year of Cooperation by the United Nations. In line with this, Swiggy and the Ministry will jointly launch an awareness campaign to promote cooperative organizations and their products nationwide.

This development follows the recent inauguration of a state-of-the-art packaging facility by Dr. Bhutani at the National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL) in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The facility will ensure high standards in packaging pulses and a variety of organic products, further supporting the quality and branding of cooperative goods.

The collaboration marks a pivotal moment in the digital transformation of India’s cooperative movement, offering cooperatives a powerful platform to enhance visibility and connect with today’s tech-savvy consumers.
